Privacy policy
Last updated:
This policy covers probl.dev and playground.probl.dev. There are no user accounts, advertising trackers, mailing lists or contact forms on these sites. You can read the documentation and run models without giving us your name or email address.
Who is responsible
Garlab Ltd (“we”, “us”) operates Probl and is responsible for personal data processed for these sites. Garlab Ltd is registered in England and Wales, company number 12345635. For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected].
Hosting and technical data
Cloudflare hosts and delivers both sites and protects them against malicious traffic. When you visit, Cloudflare receives the information needed to handle the request, which can include your IP address, the requested URL, request time, browser and device information, and referring page. Some of this technical information can be personal data even though we do not ask you to identify yourself.
We use this processing to deliver the pages you request, keep the sites available and investigate faults or abuse. Where personal data is involved, our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating a reliable, secure service (Article 6(1)(f) of the UK GDPR and, where applicable, EU GDPR). We do not export visitor logs or maintain a separate visitor database.
Cloudflare also provides aggregate traffic statistics derived from requests handled by its network, such as request counts and bandwidth. These server-side statistics do not require an analytics script in your browser. We use them to understand demand and operate the service, on the same legitimate-interest basis where personal data is involved.
Cloudflare Web Analytics
We configure Cloudflare Web Analytics to exclude browser analytics in the EU/EEA, the UK and Switzerland. Cloudflare applies this exclusion based on the location of the data centre handling your connection. The hosting, security processing and server-side traffic statistics described above still apply in these regions.
Outside these regions, we use basic browser analytics to understand traffic trends, which sites refer visitors to us, and page-load performance. We use aggregate reports, not individual visitor profiles. Cloudflare states that this service does not use cookies, local storage or cross-site fingerprinting; it receives an IP address as part of the connection and discards it at the receiving data centre.
See Cloudflare’s description of the data collected and processed and its Web Analytics privacy information. Browser content blockers can block this analytics beacon without preventing you from reading the site or running models. This does not prevent the technical processing needed to serve a page.
Cookies and storage on your device
Probl does not set advertising or analytics cookies. Cloudflare may use security cookies when a protection or challenge requires them; these serve security purposes rather than advertising. Cloudflare documents these in its cookie information.
The documentation website does not save a visitor profile in your browser. The playground uses local storage for two features:
probl-playground-sourceremembers your most recently edited program so you can resume it.probl-playground-splitremembers the editor width you choose.
These values stay in that browser profile and are not a server-side account or backup. They have no automatic expiry: later edits or layout changes overwrite them. You can remove them using your browser’s site-data controls for playground.probl.dev. Save any program you want to keep first. Blocking local storage prevents these features from remembering your work between visits.
Your programs and shared links
The playground checks and runs programs locally in your browser using WebAssembly. Probl does not send your editor contents to a server to execute them, and we do not operate a hosted database of user models.
The Share button puts a compressed copy of the program in the URL fragment, after #code=. This fragment is not part of the normal HTTP request for the page. The link is not encrypted or access-controlled: anyone who receives it can read and copy the program. Your browser history, browser sync and any service you paste the link into may retain it. We cannot revoke a link or delete copies held by its recipients. Avoid including secrets or other people’s personal data in links you share.
Copy buttons write the selected command, model or link to your clipboard only when you click them. Probl does not read your clipboard.
If you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any information you choose to include. We use these to respond and handle your request, based on our legitimate interest in answering enquiries. Where a request concerns a legal duty, such as a data protection request, we also rely on compliance with that duty (Article 6(1)(c)). Providing an email address is optional unless you want an email reply.
Correspondence passes through the email providers used by you and Garlab. Email is separate from the Cloudflare-hosted sites. We retain correspondence while it is needed to resolve the enquiry and any follow-up or dispute, or to meet a legal obligation; we then delete or anonymise it. We do not add correspondents to a marketing list.
Service providers and international processing
We do not sell personal data, use it for targeted advertising, or share it with data brokers. Cloudflare, Inc. and its service providers process technical information to host, secure and measure the sites. We may also disclose information when legally required or where necessary to investigate abuse or establish or defend a legal claim.
Cloudflare operates a global network. Hosting with Cloudflare does not mean all processing stays in the UK or European Economic Area. Its Data Processing Addendum describes the transfer safeguards, including standard contractual clauses and the UK addendum where applicable. See its privacy policy and subprocessor information. Contact us if you need more information about safeguards relevant to your data.
How long information is kept
We do not keep our own copies of visitor logs or export analytics data. Cloudflare’s Web Analytics documentation states that unsampled beacon data is retained for seven days, after which a reduced dataset is used, and that reports are available for the previous six months. That reporting window is not a promise that all Cloudflare hosting or security records are deleted after six months.
Cloudflare’s retention of hosting and security information depends on the service, the need to operate and protect it, and applicable legal requirements, as described in its privacy policy and data-processing terms. Browser storage and correspondence follow the retention criteria described above.
Your data protection rights
Where UK or EU data protection law applies, you can request access to personal data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Portability applies where its legal conditions are met. If processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing. These rights depend on the circumstances and may have legal exceptions.
Email [email protected] to make a request. We normally respond within one month; if the law permits an extension, we will explain why. We may need proportionate information to confirm your identity. We do not collect extra identifying information solely to link anonymous analytics to you. For a program stored only in your browser, use your browser’s site-data controls.
You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office or your local data protection authority. You do not have to contact us first. Probl does not make automated decisions about visitors that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
Other sites and changes
Links to GitHub, docs.rs, Garlab and other sites lead to services with their own privacy practices. This policy applies to the two Probl sites named above. We will update this page and its date when our practices change.
